Married women are often less happy than their husbands because they are more tolerant and sacrifice a lot to save the family. The statement has been recently made by professor Peter Thompson from Florida International University, USA. According to Thompson, men do not necessarily keep their promises to change their ways for the family's sake, so women suffer.

But the ones who go through the hardest times are, as scientists believe, those "over 40". Moreover, the peak of this crisis takes place around the age of 44. Earlier studies in this area showed that psychological health of the person does not depend on the person's age. Yet, specialists from University of Warwick, Dartmouth College in the U.S. opposed those results.

Happy married couples have a lower blood pressure, claim scientists from Brigham Young University, USA. They conducted a study including 204 married people (102 couples) and 99 people who have never been married, all of them wore blood pressure monitors for 24 hours. 30% of the volunteers suffered from hypertension. It was found, that those happily married had lower systolic pressure – on average by 4 mm of mercury, – and a significantly lowered pressure at night. And this is very important, as those suffering from high blood pressure at night are more prone to cardiovascular diseases.
