Kim Kardashian’s marriage to Kris Humphries lasted only 72 days before it started to crumble so fast that the divorce papers are already in, TMZ reports.
The reality show star – whose resplendent wedding ceremony was taped to be part of her show – filed for divorce at Los Angeles Superior Court citing “irreconcilable differences” on Monday and announced that day, October 31, as the official beginning of separation. According to her, she and Humphries signed a prenuptial agreement, and her ex-husband won’t be getting any spousal support.
Kardashian’s show’s producer, Ryan Seacrest, commented on her decision on his KIIS-FM radio program, saying that he understood from their brief conversation that she had gotten “caught up in all that was going on” and was feeling sad.
As PEOPLE had from a source from the Kardashian circle, Kim had been expecting “a fairy tale,” an expectation that disintegrated under the strain the TV show imposed on them. The disillusionment set in and the marriage went down.
The 31-year-old herself spilled that it had turned out that the newlyweds didn’t feel comfortable living in the Big Apple with her sister Kourtney with her baby and boyfriend Scott Disick.
At Kardashian’s Halloween party she was conspicuously husband-less, explaining that since she was bound for Australia later in the week, she separated herself from Humphries. She dressed for the party in a Poison Ivy costume.
She also told PEOPLE that she had tried to impress on Kris that they would be setting of rumors no matter what they did; she had trouble living it down, but now she tries not to think of it.
