Justin Timberlake, 30, and Jessica Biel, 29, have come to the place where the road forks.
PEOPLE had it from a source recently that they both agreed to part ways. The decision, the source said, was “completely mutual” and amicable; the couple, who have been dating since 2007, are going to maintain friendly terms. Biel also retains possession of her L.A. house.
Probably weeks back there was a heavy hint at the coming rift when at the PEOPLE/Entertainment Industry Foundation SAG Gala in Los Angeles Timberlake was spotted to keep clinging to Mila Kunis – but back then PEOPLE were told by a source that it had been a mere friendly interaction between Friends with Benefits costars while Biel and Timberlake were happy together as a couple.
Then again, when seen on February 27 at the Vanity Fair post-Oscars party, the duo exuded contentment with the status quo… And less than two weeks afterwards their break-up was confirmed officially.
Thursday’s statement from the reps of the ex-couple left no doubt that Biel and Timberlake’s relationship was over by mutual agreement. It also declares that the singer and the actress “continue to hold the highest level of love and respect for each other.”
