How much time is it enough to make love? Experts do not recommend to be guided by the heroines of the Sex and the City and Desperate Housewives series. In fact, a good sexual intercourse does not have to last for hours. Sexologists claim that an average of ten minutes is enough to fully satisfy both partners.
A recent study on the subject has shown that 10-minute sex is the best. The Daily Mail writes that these findings were made on the basis of the survey and the results of a scientific research. Psychologist Eric Corti and his colleagues interviewed thousands of men and women to find out what they think of “too quick sex” and “desirable sex”.
According to the sexologists’ calculations, the duration of the intercourse is growing every day. In 1938, it lasted only 2 minutes, in 1972 – 10 minutes, and in 1995 – already 16. An average person has about 2580 sexual intercourses in his or her life. 31% of men claimed to have had sex with two female partners at the same time, but only 5% women admitted being in the company of two men.
Based on these responses, it was concluded that for the majority of people 7 minutes is enough for making love. Sex lasting from 7 to 13 minutes is “desirable”. And all that is longer is considered tiresome by both men and women.
Also, the respondents unanimously indicated that three minutes is not enough for partners to get satisfaction.
Eric Corti, assistant professor of psychology at the University of Pennsylvania, said that the results of this study will calm down the couples believing in the stereotypes that sex can last all night. The expert hopes that this study will dispel fantasies and encourage men and women with some realistic data. After all, one should get some sleep at night!
