Dev Patel, 19, who played Jamal in the Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire, flew from London to Tel Aviv, Israel for a secret romantic dating with Freida Pinto, 24, his co-star in the movie. According to media reports and numerous witnesses including a group of Japanese tourists, the pair looked more like a couple during several hours of staying at a hotel in the city, walking around the harbor and having an early champagne dinner at a beachfront restaurant.
Patel’s relatives were in fact aware that the young actor was heading to see his new date in Jerusalem, which is the filming location for Julian Schnabel’s latest movie called Miral. This is a story of an Arab woman played by Pinto who attempts to open an orphanage in Jerusalem just before the birth of the Independent State of Israel in 1948.
