Kelly Clarkson has gotten a problem that can affect her career and turn it into a totally different direction: she is in happy relationship, and it makes her music mellower.
At her interview in anticipation of ABC’s singing competition show Duets the 30-year-old singer – mostly known for highly-powered hits like Since U Been Gone – complained of having to struggle to compose “a tough song” because she cannot get keyed up enough and slides into a sentimental mood.
The reason behind this change of heart is her boyfriend since the end of 2011, Brandon Blackstock, a talent manager from Nashville, 35. Blackstock has been around long: his father, Narvel Blackstock, has been Clarkson’s manager for five years, and his stepmother, Reba McEntire, sang Because of You with her.
Their relationship was made public at the beginning of March, and the singer was already cracking jokes about the damage to her creativity and the overpowering desire to write happy songs.
Though Clarkson’s next single from her Stronger album is entitled Darkside, it may be one of her last journeys to the dark side of her heart, who knows? During her latest writing sessions, she said, people were noticing that she was not her usual self, and she found it was much more difficult for her to compose. Nevertheless, she admits that she loves having this problem!
Talking to reporters, Clarkson shared that life now feels different in many ways. If in the past she half-joked that she could not fit a relationship in her schedule, now she is surprised to discover that she finds time for her boyfriend.
