2011 certainly looks like a year of illustrious marriages with the Royal Wedding succeeded by Hugh Hefner marrying Crystal Harris on the coming Saturday. Custom-made wedding invitations by Papeterie have been sent to over 300 people. A strawberry cake was coming from Torrance Bakery, a gorgeous pink gown ordered from Romona Keveza. Everything was set for the weekend’s grand affair at the Playboy Mansion – which is now off, as reported by TMZ.
The 25-year-old bride decided to go back on the wedding on Tuesday, four days before she was to make her vows. The unexpected news was announced by Hefner, 85, via Twitter. His message said that “Crystal has had a change of heart.”
It was to be Hefner’s third marriage after one with Mildred Williams (1949 – 1959) and 1988 Playmate of the Year Kimberly Conrad, then 26, (1989 – 2009).
Commenting on her decision on her website, Harris stated the break was the result of “much deep reflection and thought”; she went on to say that she regarded Hefner as a worthy man to be highly respected and deserving all the best. She also expressed her hope that both of them would get due privacy treatment from the media.
When asked by PEOPLE for a comment, Harris’s manager Michael Blakey called it “sad news” that was brought about by mutual decision. The duo intend to remain on friendly footing.
