Could PETA have foretold the repercussions of Kim Kardashian’s flour bombing and the group’s subsequent biting public statement? Anyway, as soon as Kim’s sister Khloé had got word of what she regarded as an insult, she broke up with the organization!
The fur fighters, after the flour burst, came up with harsh criticism of the reality star, concluding that they would support the attacker should her victim press for charges.
Khloé, who had been so pro-PETA that she appeared naked in one of their ads, said on Monday that she was severing all her connections with the group. She further said she had learned that the woman with the flour bomb was linked with PETA in spite of the group’s denial. On her blog she wrote that she was mortified by PETA’s obvious lies and their embracing such outrageous behavior.
“As you all know, I don’t condone violence and bullying and what happened last Thursday was just that,” Khloé summed up, reminding that although she had been active for PETA for a considerable time, bullying is – and should be – far from their activity, which went for her “huge disappointment.”
PETA’s response came the following day, stressing that it’s the star’s unwillingness to wear fur that weighs with them, while the fact whether the attacker was or wasn’t connected with the organization is immaterial to the ongoing practice of killing or electrocuting animals “for a bit of fur clothing.” The statement says that Khloé’s rushing to her sister’s defense is understandable and they are aware of the reality star’s kind heart, therefore they keep wishing her well – even if they wanted she could sway her sister in this matter.
PETA still denies any responsibility for the attack, although, according to TMZ, the offender had belonged to the group’s militant members for quite a while and was even awarded as such. The organization makes no secret of the fact that in case there is a lawsuit the alleged attacker is entitled to their support.
It is not yet known, though, what Kim intends to do about the accident.
Meanwhile, Khloé doesn’t hesitate to voice her disgust at the attitude PETA takes. She doesn’t want to wear furs, she accentuates, but she is not the kind to force her opinion on others – and it’s unseemly that PETA is.
