Stephanie Rose Bongiovi, a teen daughter of rocker Jon Bon Jovi, is suspected of toying with substances – which may end for her in misdemeanor charges.
The 19-year-old, who attends Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y., got embroiled in a drug scandal on the college’s campus. In the small hours of Wednesday morning a volunteer ambulance squad and police were called in after an unconscious woman was found in her room in the dorm in Upstate New York. According to the police report, Bongiovi was not responsive and thought to have taken a heroin overdose.
The police search revealed stacks of heroin and marijuana with some drug paraphernalia; these discoveries led to the arrest of Bongiovi and her fellow student, 21-year-old Ian S. Grant, who also hails from Red Bank, N.J.
After that Stephanie Rose – the eldest of the rocker’s four children with his 23-year-long wife Dorothea Hurley – was charged with possession of controlled substances and drugs. The police information further says that she was discharged from hospital later on Wednesday and released from custody with an order to return to court.
By the way, according to the specialists from one of the drug abuse rehabs in North Carolina, 0.6 per cent of American 12th graders have used heroin in 2012. And in general illicit drug use has been increasing in recent years among teenagers. It regards students from both public and private schools of the US. Thus, it is a matter of great concern to parents, even celebrity parents, as we see now.
Hamilton College’s statement to WKTV runs to say that the college regards these misdemeanors as violating its policy as well as violating the state law. Therefore the police gets all the cooperation they need in their investigation from the college authorities with the safety of the students uppermost in their consideration. The college refuses to discuss issues of any of their students’ health or discipline “out of respect for the privacy and in accordance with federal regulations.”
