More nuptial joys for the Queen of Soul! Aretha Franklin is to be married, and that’s official.
Franklin’s rep has informed PEOPLE that the great singer and her longtime friend William Wilkerson are engaged and discussing the details of their approaching wedding.
The 69-year-old legendary artist and her fiancé affectionately known as “Willie” are considering arranging for the ceremony on Miami Beach followed by a reception on board a private yacht for the nearest friends.
When asked about the choice of a gown, the rep said it was a toss-up among Valentino, Donna Karan and Vera Wang (whom Ms. Franklin holds to be “the queen of wedding dresses”).
Franklin shared that the wedding date can be expected some time in the summer.
Having experienced a health scare, Franklin dropped 85 pounds during the year 2011 and claims she feels “fabulous.”
For those who adore online speculations she also added that she was NOT pregnant!
