Genes Responsible for Beer Belly

Beer belly is developed irrespectively of how much beer is consumed, The Sun reports findings of recent research carried out mutually by German and Swedish scientists.

Girl Drinking Beer

7,876 male and 12,794 female beer drinkers who were surveyed for eight and a half years thus provided solid proof that fat deposits in the abdomen area tend to develop due to genetic factors rather than due to increased amounts of consumed beer. The researchers state that addiction to beer and strong drinks insignificantly affects weight gains and rarely results in obesity.

The research was conducted by the German Institute of Human Nutrition Potsdam-Rehbrucke and Fulda University of Applied Sciences, Germany, and the University of Gothenburg, Sweden.
