The digital picture frame which you will definitely like to view your new pictures in will be released by Sony in October. It is called the S-Frame DPF-D72N/BQ. This not very appealing name hides a classy black frame, wide and glossy, with Swarovski crystals from the CRYSTALLIZED line tracing elegant patterns against the gloss.
To step beyond appearances, the gadget has 1GB storage capacity and can hold something like 2,000 photos. They will be shown on a 7-inch LCD display in 800 x 480 pixels and there is an automatic resize feature and the Auto Orientation sensor to deal with picture differences.
You can arrange for a thumbnail view or for a slideshow with ten transition effects.
Photos can be either downloaded from the computer via an USB cable or displayed from memory cards, the supported ones being Multi-Media Card, xD-Picture Card, Secure Digital, Memory Stick PRO, Memory Stick PRO Duo, Compact Flash, and SDHC.
JPEG and RAW files are supported, but there are no wireless connectivity features. Calendar and clock are thrown in, which could well be expected.
The S-Frame DPF-D72N/BQ is priced at $150 and it can be set on the wall or on the desk on the stand.
