British dentists came up with a new way to calm their nervous patients down. A special device called NuCalm will do the job. The device consists of a generator and headphones, and emits sound waves at a certain frequencies. A patient will calm down and enter a state of deep relaxation on the edge between wakefulness and sleep within five minutes.
Tests have shown that once people enter this state they are aware of and hear everything around them, including the sound of dental machine, but are not disturbed by their surroundings. Moreover, a body in this state actively produces serotonin and dopamine. Use of brain relaxator is not restricted to cases of pathological fear of dentists, but can be used as part of treatment of trauma, insomnia, and increased anxiety.
