It is a downtempo R&B-soul romantic ballad about the power of love, the female protagonist’s emotional address to her beloved with an appeal to make love even when the world is at war.
The debut performance of the song took place on the 10th season of the American Idol show on 25 May, 2011. 1+1 debuted on the US Billboard Hot 100 and Canadian Hot 100 charts, where it occupied positions 57 and 82 respectively.
