It is a well-known fact that toothbrushes should be changed every 3 months. However, you should not get rid of the old ones. They will be useful for a variety of home beauty secrets.

We do not doubt that you keep your toothbrush clean, but the old brush should be cleaned once again (and very carefully) before you store it. To do this, first soak the brush in warm water, then wash it using baby soap and be sure to rinse it well. If there are traces of toothpaste between the bristles, mechanical cleaning will be needed.

Here is a collection of ideas how you can use an old toothbrush to enhance your beauty. Note that you will need your own toothbrush for each of the methods: you will be interested not only in the original result, but also in the safety of your health!

For hair dyeing

You happen to need a plastic brush for hair dyeing. A brush is used to apply a hair color with any method of dyeing: balayage, highlighting, Ombre, etc. The brush should not have metal parts. An old toothbrush is what you need. Therefore, if you dye your hair from time to time, do not throw away old brushes: they will come in handy! By the way, you can also apply the mask on your hair using the old brush.

For hair styling

The toothbrush may be your brand new styling tool.

To correct the hairdo

If there are any unruly hairs or an unnecessary wave, do the following thing: drizzle the hairspray on a brush and smooth the hairs. Thick hair? Apply the hairspray right on the hair and then smooth it with a brush.

To make a bouffant

A toothbrush is very similar to those professional brushes used by backstage stylists at the shows. Fix the hair roots using the toothbrush, apply a texturizing spray from above, and the volume of your hair will last for a long time.

For dry shampoo

Brunettes sometimes complain that the particles of dry shampoo can be seen on their hair. Use a toothbrush to comb out the dry shampoo. Blonde women will also find such a method useful if they try to use a tinted dry spray.

For nails

Even the most well-groomed ladies face the problem of dirt under their fingernails. Take a brush and soap and clean the nails.

Do you want to have bare nails? Clean the nail plate with a brush under running water – the nails will be perfectly clean and will get a nice shine.

Create your nail art. A dry and stiff toothbrush can be used to create fancied patterns and free designs. First, paint your nails in one color and then create avant-garde strokes using a contrasting color. There is yet another idea of creative splashes. Put some nail polish on a stiff brush and then make the texture with the droplets of nail polish falling on your nails from the bristles (this requires stiff bristles that will seem to shake off paint when bent down).

In summer, feet and toe nails get dirty very quickly from urban dust. A soft toothbrush will quickly clean all the dirt at the end of the day.

For eyebrows

Bushy eyebrows can be arranged with wax for eyebrows and a soft toothbrush. Another idea is to use a lip balm for the same purpose: apply a little balm on the brush and comb your brows. It is better to take colorless wax to look neat and keep within the boundaries of eyebrows.

For lips

The most popular method of preventing dry lips is regular exfoliation. If we use a sugar scrub (brown sugar + water) and an old toothbrush, the massage will not only help you get rid of all the dead skin particles, but will also give you the bright color of lips. Massaging activates the blood circulation and cell regeneration. Instead of sugar you can use organic honey. After the procedure you must apply a thick layer of oil or balm for lips.

If the lips are very dry, massage them with Vaseline or a balm without using abrasive scrubs.

Mascara

You surely do not like the spider legs effect on the eyelashes. You should not wash the mascara and apply it again to get rid of sticky lashes. Just comb them lightly with an old toothbrush. All lumps will disappear!

For body skin

If you have failed to get an even layer of tanning, you know what to do: take a soft toothbrush and a good scrub. For example, it is advisable to mix a cup of water, half a cup of lemon juice and a tablespoon of baking soda. Gently clean the bumps and tanning smudges with a brush. Lemon juice and soda will make the coating lighter, and soft bristles of the brush will exfoliate skin cells effectively.

The following recipe will help exfoliate rough areas of the body: mix the cleanser with olive oil and oatmeal and massage it with a soft toothbrush. If the parts of the body are very sensitive, try the composition of gel and tea tree oil.

For home tooth whitening

All traditional recipes of tooth whitening require the use of a toothbrush. Do not use the brush you are currently using, it’s better to take the old one because the ingredients for home bleaching sometimes include the substances that destroy brush bristles: for example, activated charcoal, baking soda, lemon juice, and hydrogen peroxide.

To clean things

A toothbrush will help clean the comb (do it with soapy water once per month), shampoo and conditioner dispensers, and clean razor blades from fine hairs. By the way, it’s not just about the comb. A toothbrush can easily remove hairs from a bristle hairbrush. Use it to clean the hair straightening iron or pincers, but do not use abrasive cleaners to avoid damaging the surface of the tools. A toothbrush can be used to clean jewelry, accessories and many hard surfaces that you have in your beauty arsenal.
