As American Idol’s 12th season is approaching, the question of who will be judging it becomes more acute – for Us Weekly learned from a source that Steven Tyler, Aerosmith’s voice, is going to step out of the judges’ panel.
An Idol judge since 2010, the 64-year-old vocalist brought some of his rocker’s habits in the show, eyeing up young girls in short skirts and loudmouthing things like “f**k a duck and see what hatches.”
Practically at the same time when the news about Tyler’s departure were out, his judge panel colleague, Jennifer Lopez, 42, started throwing out hints that she may be leaving the most famous of FOX’s programs as well. During the discussion of her participation in Ice Age: Continental Drift with Natalie Morales of Today on Thursday, J-Lo said that, although she is very fond of the program and the company (host Ryan Seacrest, Tyler and Randy Jackson), she feels it interferes with occupations she loves better – like working on films. So she is contemplating the option to wave good-bye to the show.
While there’s no official statement as yet to the effect that Randy Jackson will be joined by new judges, the show’s fans keep fingering the list of the most probable successors headed by Mariah Carey, Fergie and Adam Lambert, participant of Idol season 8.
FOX chose not to comment on the news so far.
