More Female Celebrities Opt for a "Pillow Face"

Cameron Diaz looks like it does not matter now: fallen cheeks, small eyes, and a puffy face… Celebrity chroniclers joke that Diaz has entered the star club of “ladies with pillow faces”. Plastic surgeons have a different opinion: the actress has used too much of the anti-aging medication. Previously it was thought that Cam had resorted to plastic only twice, restoring her broken nose after surfing. But the surgery was forced, and the actress was ordered by doctors to do so.

The search for eternal youth is not always for the good. And there are a lot of examples of this, take at least Donatella Versace, who changed her own appearance and became a regular person at the rating of victims of plastic surgeries. Diaz has always been on the top of the celebrity lists, whose appearance has never been touched by the hand of a plastic surgeon, but the photos, recently made by the paparazzi, forced us to doubt this fact.

The club of “ladies with pillow faces” includes Sharon Osbourne, another celebrity, who looks ridiculous in her pursuit of youth. Her skin looks smoother, but the evil tongues compare the face of Ozzy Osbourne’s wife with a baby’s butt. However, they do not mean its softness, but rather its shape. The saddest thing is that Sharon claims she looks great and denies facelifting and Botox, but it is obvious for everyone that she is just crazy about it.

It is clear that with age women want more and more to stay young. However, nowadays this phrase “with age” means “starting from 25 years”. 20-year-old girls, injecting Botox in the forehead, have ceased being something odd. What do they want to achieve, what reflection in the mirror do they consider perfect? Is the face of a plastic doll with smooth cheeks and zero facial expressions the very ideal, which we should strive to?

Psychotherapist Diana Parkinson explains that this dissatisfaction is a dysmorphic disorder when a person ceases to notice her natural beauty and strives for a certain ideal. Every wrinkle soon becomes an indication of an urgent necessity of plastic surgery, and after a few years these people literally lose their face.

Kylie Minogue and Madonna

The people, who are unaccustomed to it, can easily get scared: a crowd of busty ladies with lips about four times the normal size and unnaturally wide open eyes. Once they happen to be in a company like this, or just seeing the stars on television, dysmorphic people rapidly begin to feel their own inferiority. Very soon they appear in the crowded waiting-rooms of plastic surgeons, who would make the cheekbones for this lady, and the skin without a wrinkle for that one, and so on and so forth. It is surprising that instead of feeling sorry for the famous fans of plastic surgery, women begin to copy their appearance.

The best plastic surgeons in Hollywood have already secured comfortable existence, not only for themselves, but for their grandchildren as well. Perhaps, the best known explanation of the crazy draw that famous ladies feel for plastic surgeries was given by Cher a few years ago. She said one would not be able to get a job with the age clearly seen on her face. Cher said nobody wanted old women, and there was no place for them in show business. According to her, it is simple: either you are the object of desire, or a granny, and there is no alternative option.

For stars like Madonna, Cameron Diaz and Kylie Minogue, good looks is the key to success. Every pimple, every extra kilogram is immediately brought onto the front pages of all publications, writing about celebrities.

Dr. William Binder, a plastic surgeon from Beverly Hills, believes that the doctors themselves are to blame for this state of affairs. Some patients come to a specialist, not really knowing what they need. They begin to enumerate any procedures they can remember. The surgeon says that many doctors just cannot refuse these ladies, not wanting to miss an opportunity to earn money. Patients cannot adequately assess their appearance, and it is the task of the doctor to do it and make certain recommendations.

A young specialist, who has not yet learned to tactfully refuse the clients, will always meet their requirements, even the most absurd ones. However, they often do so not out of greed, but out of fear that they will never be addressed next time. Only surgeons with experience and a recognized name can afford making the statements that would clearly force the lady reject a plastic surgery.

Most often, it is women after 40 years, who come to the clinic. They are married to successful and well-to-do men, who want their beloved one to always be ideal. First, they need to smooth out nasolabial wrinkles with fillers, then they make a couple of Botox injections, augment their lips, change the shape of the eyes, and so on ad infinitum.

According to Diana Parkinson, Sharon Osbourne and Cameron Diaz look so unnatural because our ideas about how we should look change over time. The studies have shown that young people prefer silicone breasts. Ten years ago it would have seemed a perfect delirium, but these are the realities of today. Current views on beauty are frightening. And the quest for eternal youth causes women to distort their appearance, creating a new image that is strikingly different from the former one. Diana Parkinson believes that it is foolish to think a few injections will make you happier.
