This is one Christmas Kelli Cashiola is not likely to forget in a hurry – and it seems that Santa Claus will be hard put to it to top the surprise Lady Antebellum’s Dave Haywood had in store for his girlfriend: a Christmas-themed marriage proposal!
The musician’s rep confirmed to PEOPLE that the couple got engaged on Monday evening when Haywood, 29, all but created a wonderland of his own as a means to express his love to his best girl.
The 29-year-old Cashiola, who is VP of Marketing/Brand Management at Nashville’s Warner Music branch, certainly didn’t expect to be blindfolded before she was taken to her house from her Music Row office by her date. First Haywood led her into her own home which she failed to recognize as her blindfold was slipped off – every room seemed to come out of a winter fairy-tale book created by Haywood The Magician!
Only then she was taken outside to see the illumination over the front of her house that spelled “Will you marry me?” As the stunned Cashiola breathed out “yes,” her personal wizard had a ring ready for her.
It is rumored, though, that the wedding won’t take place until Haywood’s bandmate Hillary Scott has married her fiancé Chris Tyrrell in spring of 2012.
Haywood and Cashiola, Scott and Tyrrell and the third Lady Antebellum musician Charles Kelly with his wife Cassie McConnell were prominent at the CMA Awards last month where their red carpet appearance was enhanced by the official confirmation of the Haywood-Cashiola romance. The two had known one another for something like five years before that.
The Lady Antebellum tour has been announced to halt until the end of January, the first 2012 concert scheduled at Tulsa, Okla.
