Last Friday hundreds of diehard Britney Spears fans stomped out of her concert at Burswood Dome, Perth, Australia, as soon as they realized they were being handed out a lip-sync service. For many of them the concert didn’t go beyond the third song; others stayed on sturdily yet they are sure that the dubious pleasure wasn’t at all worth the ticket prices ranging from $182 to $1,370.
Local reporters collected heaps of evidence of people being annoyed at unfair treatment. For some of the fans like Amanda Hawlet the admission cost half a week’s wage, and the universal feeling is that money was thrown away because Britney just didn’t deliver.
The Australian government had its say in the matter as well. In her interview to the Sydney Daily Telegraph Virginia Judge, New South Wales Minister for Fair Trade, voiced her intention to ask Britney for the future to indicate on her tickets whether it will be a live show or something inferior. She states that “Australians would not tolerate a ‘Mickey Mouse’ performance.”
