Antarctica is on average the coldest, driest and windiest place on Earth. 98% of Antarctica is covered by ice, which is on average 1,6 kilometers (1 mi) in thickness. As there is little precipitation, the interior of the continent is technically the largest desert in the world, but a frozen desert. As for the temperature, scientists recorded the world’s lowest temperature: −89 °C (−129 °F).

Penguins on Ice, Antarctica

Though it’s fifth-largest continent in area, its population is about 1000, at the same time there are no permanent human residents, only those conducting and supporting scientific research and other work on the continent. But there are lots of penguins, fur seals and cold-adapted plants. Maybe Antarctica is so beautiful, because there are not many people, it has no government and belongs to no country.

Lots of Penguins in Antarctica

Enjoy beautiful pictures of the coldest place on Earth.

The hottest place on earth is a good question. I was wondering it too and here’s what I’ve found:
“In the Dallol Depression in Ethiopia, which is 328 feet below sea level, temperatures can reach as high as 145 degrees Fahrenheit (63 degrees Celsius).”
    and
“Death Valley, located in east-central California, US, is one of the hottest regions known. The summer temperatures in Death Valley exceed 52° C (125° F) and rarely fall below 21° C (70° F).”
The Dallol Depression in Ethiopia seems to be the winner :)

well see the world from the eye of nature it will always look beautiful. i think that we must save nature or all we will be left with are picture like those and the upcoming generation will ask “was that on earth?”.
    save the world….
    take steps against global warming.
some day we may achive what we worked for.
because earth is humanity… (there is no other place yet for humans to dwell)
so to save earth is to save humanity
i better say save humanity be a human! ;)
