Pink cheeks, sparkling eyes, a little nose – at the moment when a woman has a look at a smiling baby, the generation of the dopamine in her body is rising, scientists inform. This hormone neurotransmitter is responsible for many brain functions, including learning, sleep, motivation etc.
The study, besides for evaluating the level of the dopamine, estimated the reaction of the female different brain regions to a picture of a smiling baby. With the help of the functional magnetic resonance tomography it was revealed that at that moment the brain regions responsible for a good mood and for the feeling of satisfaction with the finished work are activated. In the opinion of the scientists, the found processes are established in the course of the evolution to support the maternal instinct.
