Judas is Lady Gaga’s new hit from her forthcoming 2nd studio album named Born This Way. The track was released on 15 April, 2011. It was written and produced by Gaga and RedOne. Judas is a dance track speaking of a woman who is in love with a man who betrays her and at the same time embodies all that haunted the woman in her past, the evil she couldn’t escape. Lady Gaga explained that the song is about “honoring your darkness in order to bring yourself into the light”. You have to forgive yourself and give up your past, in order to move further on.
Critics praised the energy and the robotic breakdown of the track, yet noted a similarity between Judas and another Gaga’s hit – Bad Romance. The single’s popularity is proved by the fact that it debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and entered top 10 on many charts worldwide.
