Yesterday we all could enjoy the first semifinal of Eurovision 2009. By the way, you can have a look at the contest review and the results. Today we’d like to share one of the songs that we haven’t heard yet, as it will be performed only tomorrow, at the second semifinal – “Fairytale” by Alexander Rybak from Norway. We are doing this because Russian press considers him as the artist having more chances to win than any other singer at Eurovision 2009. Maybe this is due to the fact that Alexander is initially from Belarus and his native language is Russian? Or probably because the song was composed in a style resembling Russian folk music, plus, the amazing dancers with their Russian dance? Anyway, it’s great to see a contestant who can not only sing good, but also plays a musical instrument (violin) well at Eurovision.
Alexander Rybak – Fairytale Song Words
Years ago, when I was younger
I kind of liked, a girl I knew
She was mine and we were sweethearts
That was then but then it’s true
I’m in love with a fairytale
Even though it hurts
Cause I don’t care if I lose my mind,
I’m already cursed
Every day we started fighting
Every night we fell in love
No one else could make me sadder
But no one else could lift me high above
I don’t know what I was doing
Suddenly we fell apart
Nowadays I cannot find her
But when I do we’ll get a brand new start

I’m in love with a fairytale
Even though it hurts
Cause I don’t care if I lose my mind,
I’m already cursed
She’s a fairytale, yeah
Even though it hurts
cause I don’t care if I lose my mind,
I’m already cursed
