Powder cosmetics have special advantages. We often use powdery makeup products. What about powder as a cleansing product?
The trend has already been called a “new powder trend.” Like much in cosmetics, this idea came from Asia. Manufacturers of cosmetics in Japan and South Korea have long offered their women powder cosmetics – from masks and scrubs to detergents and conditioners.
Asian woman use powdery products daily, while the trend in America and Europe caught mainly among the travelers. Powder products weigh practically nothing, and they save space in your bag.
Another, no less important advantage to mention is that powder cosmetics are least susceptible to the growth of bacteria. Such products are stored longer. The main thing is not to use water-diluted powder (paste) repeatedly.
Exfoliant Powder
Exfoliant powder looks like talc or baby powder. Cream scrubs often feel too heavy on the face, but a powder scrub is light and not greasy. It is applied very easily. Just pour the product into a wet palm, rub your hands together until it turns into a light foam or mousse. Further carry face exfoliation as usual, with light circular movements without touching the eye area. Then rinse with water.
The advantage of a powdery scrub is it being oil- and fat-free, which makes it very light and weightless. It may contain rice, salicylic acid, ground oatmeal, seaweed extracts, organic fruits (dried and ground), and medicinal plants.
Facial Cleansing Powder
The texture of the product is like in a fine detergent. Sometimes it is packed in disposable containers – capsules similar to tiny yogurt packages. One package is enough for one application. Add a little water – and the product is ready.
The resulting cleanser has a very light oil-free formula, sometimes composed of whitening ingredients. If you do not want exfoliation, choose a dust-like product. However, if the detergent is grainy – it means you get a 2-in-1 soap + scrub.
Cleansing powders are suitable for all skin types, even for very sensitive skin, with rosacea, acne, pimples. If it contains white clay, it is meant for oily skin – clay absorbs sebum. Even hyaluronic acid may be contained in a powder product.

DIY Powder Cosmetics at Home
In fact, the powder trend is not a novelty for those who prepare cosmetics at home, even occasionally. Often, homemade masks and scrubs are prepared so: first, a dry mixture, then water is added.
Powdery ingredients for homemade cosmetics can be prepared for a long time in advance. For example, powdered oatmeal mixed with milled dried herbs can be prepared beforehand and diluted with water only for a single application.
