The House of Mouawad, founded 120 years ago, has made a second attempt at setting a world record after they scored the most expensive bra in 2003 with The Very Sexy Fantasy Bra created together with Victoria’s Secret and worth $11,000,000 (certified by Guinness World Records).
Now Guinness has another job coming, for Mouawad 1001 Nights Diamond Purse, a handbag just unveiled by the House, is easily the world’s most expensive item of the kind at the whooping price of $3,800,000.
Created by Robert Mouawad, the purse that is meant to astonish everybody by its splendor is shaped like a heart and sports 18kt gold and an impressive scattering of diamonds weighing almost 382 carats in toto. Altogether there are over 4,000 colorless diamonds with 105 yellow diamonds and 56 pink ones thrown in. This beauty of a handbag is all handmade and it took more than 8,800 hours to make and the toil of 10 artisans.
The new Mouawad record breaker was exhibited last weekend at the Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition. So far it hasn’t been bought.
