On Wednesday, June 19, the court of Milan sentenced famous designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana to a year and eight months in prison for tax evasion. The designers have not paid the Italian government about a billion euros.
The prosecution points out that since the creation of Dolce & Gabbana Luxemburg sarl and Gado sarl companies in Luxembourg in 2004 the founders of the Dolce & Gabbana brand have been involved in a serious distortion of the financial statements and falsifying of tax documents.
The designers’ lawyer Massimo Dinoia prepares an appeal and hopes to change this sentence. The lawyer says that Dolce and Gabbana will not go to jail, either now or sometime in the future.
The fans of Dolce & Gabbana urge the designers to leave Italy.
