The World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) has warned us in their recent study that a combination of sugar, coffee and cream or fat milk, better known as “iced coffee”, contains too much fat and calories. Actually it is comparable with a full evening meal.
Meaning that buying many iced coffees in chain stores can make you put on flesh – and worse.
“If you are having them regularly then they will increase the chances of you becoming overweight, which in turn increases your risk of developing cancer, as well as other diseases such as heart disease and diabetes,” the WCRF study explains.
Starbucks’ venti Dark Berry Mocha Frappuccino, for one, can get you 561 calories up, and drinking four of these will exceed women’s recommended daily calorie intake.
Some types of coffee made with skimmed milk – to name iced Americano and iced caffe latte – are recommended brands being not so heavily charged with calories. Though other skimmed-milk types like the skimmed version of a Double Chocolate Frappe and a Mocha Frappe Latte in Caffe Nero have an unnecessarily large amount of calories.
In order to lessen the risk of obesity scientists advise to choose coffee made with skimmed or semi skimmed milk and no sweeteners.
