British scientists claim that daylight can help to lose weight. They found that sunlight activates the so-called brown adipose tissue that transforms fat into energy quickly and effectively.
Infants have the largest amount of brown fat (it is not for nothing that brown fat produces 300 times more heat per unit mass compared with any other tissue), but its level plummets with age.
After studying the metabolism in more than 3,500 patients, researchers from the University of Nottingham found that brown fat activity increased in spring and summer. It is very likely that the activity was linked to daylight. According to scientists, it’s now the time to think over novel obesity treatments using sunlight.
