Clothes Are More Important Than You Think

2003

The researchers from the Northwestern University (Illinois, USA) have concluded that the influence of clothes on a person is strongly underestimated. According to the researchers, the clothes we wear have a strong impact not only on others, but on ourselves as well.

One of the scientists, Adam Galinsky, believes that wearing a business suit we try to behave according to our appearance and become more serious and responsible. Thus, a few volunteers participating in the experiment were asked to wear a medical gown – and they immediately began to behave more carefully, like doctors. At the same time, when a similar gown was called “a robe of the artist”, the metamorphosis did not occur. However, the participants of the experiment demonstrated a surge of creativity.

Therefore, women now have a reason to visit clothing stores more often and stay there longer!
