Homophobes Kicked Leisha Hailey off Flight for Kissing

Leisha Hailey knows how to kiss – so much that it can cause controversy! At least the folks at Southwest Airlines decided it was sooo hot that they felt it expedient to escort her off the company’s flight.

The star of Showtime’s The L Word who chose to kiss her girlfriend aboard a Southwest Airlines plane and drew an unexpected reaction burst into an angry tirade against what she regarded as discrimination.

In her Twitter message the 40-year-old accused the company’s staff of being “homophobic” because she had been told by the flight attendant that, it being a “family” airline, kisses on board were not tolerated. She wrote that she didn’t understand what they meant by “family” if it was not the person you love, in which case a display of affection should have been taken as a natural gesture. She even went so far as to offer advice to the gay to boycott Southwest Airlines because “they don’t like us.”

The airway company also issued a statement affirming that they had to take measures following several complaints from passengers who described the behavior of the actress as “excessive”. The action was initiated by “behavior and not gender,” the statement says, and the crew that is to look after the comfortable atmosphere on board, made the right decision to choose to continue the discussion of the designated behavior on the ground and not during the flight.

Southwest does seem to care what’s going on on its flights even if it means brushing with some celebrities, like last year’s incident with actor-director Kevin Smith who was denied the right to fly on the grounds that he was too large for one seat and it was not safe. Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong was a more recent offender, his pants that hung way too low being the reason for his removal a few months back.
