The man who had been trying to extort $100,000 from Cindy Crawford (43) and Rande Gerber (47) turned out to be a former German model, according to German police information.
It is assumed that Edis “Eddie” Kayalar, 26, the man who gave himself in to police in Stuttgart on Monday, is the man who had been blackmailing the celebrity couple from the USA and later from Germany. The official story states that he happened to come by an equivocal photograph depicting Crawford and Gerber’s daughter. The girl who was 7 at the time was photographed tied to a chair with her clothes in disarray, allegedly playing cops and robbers with her nanny.
Edis Kayalar approached the famous parents with a request for money threatening to hand over the photo to the media otherwise.
His deportation in Germany didn’t stop him from being charged of extortion last week.
The couple’s rep commented: “Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford intend to pursue any and all available legal action against anyone who aids the perpetrator in the distribution or sale of the photograph of their daughter.”
Crawford and Gerber’s daughter is 8 at present; their other child is a son aged 10.
