Washington Physicians Committee has issued a statement about the danger of hot dogs. This kind of fast food contains much salt, threatening with hypertension and other problems with the cardiovascular system. But most importantly, American doctors believe that a total amount of 50 grams of processed meat per day (as a hot dog contains) increases the risk of colorectal cancer by 21%.
The expert Susan Lewin equated the hot dogs to cigarettes by the degree of damage to health. The Committee agreed on advertising to convey their message to the people. There have appeared billboards saying “Caution: hot dogs can undermine your health” and demonstrating a pack of cigarettes, stuffed with hot dogs.
Thus, the experts are going to attract people’s attention to the connection of hot dogs and colorectal cancer. According to the expert Susan Levin, fast-food, like cigarettes, should be sold with a warning label.
