The International Agency for Research on Cancer, WHO (IARC) announced on May 31 that a mobile phone is a potential carcinogen. Its active use increases the risk of malignant brain tumor, glioma, by 40%.
The active use in this case presupposes 30 minutes a day for 10 years. Before announcing the mobile phone a potential carcinogen, the working group of IARC had reviewed hundreds of scientific publications on this topic. According to the leader of the researchers, Jonathan Samet (USA), they continue to gather information, but they have already obtained enough data for the conclusion they have made.
It is very simple to reduce the risk to near zero – it means to remove the phone from the head during a phone call, that is to use a headset or to use SMS-correspondence.
