By changing the cat‘s tray, we practically risk our life. Such an unexpected conclusion was drawn by the researchers from the School of Medicine at the University of Maryland (USA) after examining 45,000 Danish women.
The researchers believe that toxoplasmosis (Toxoplasma gondii) is the source of evil. It is one of the most common parasites from the large protozoa family. The bacteria live in cat intestines, while in people they prefer to stay in the brain. No symptoms may occur (and in most cases it is really so), but sometimes the bacteria can cause serious behavioral disorders up to a suicide attempt.
The researchers argue that this risk is increased by half. Fortunately, according to world statistics, nine out of ten attempts to commit suicide are unsuccessful. But not only cats may be insidious carriers of bacteria frenzy. Toxoplasmosis can be transmitted via unwashed vegetables, undercooked meat, and water from doubtful sources. The salvation is clean hands and pure products. Toxoplasmosis can be revealed by special blood tests.
