Many of us will never touch the food past the expiration date. However, there are certain foods that are safe to eat, even if this period has passed.
1. Milk
Fermented milk can be stored 50% longer if it is stored at a low temperature. Therefore, it is recommended to keep it in the rear part of the refrigerator and not near the door. If your milk gets sour, then it is possible to cook pancakes.
2. Eggs
According to experts, eggs can be stored from 3 to 5 weeks. However, they should be kept at a temperature below 5 degrees to prevent the potential growth of salmonella bacteria.
3. Products with sugar
Anything that contains a lot of sugar, such as jam or honey, is safe to use after the expiration date.
4. Sauerkraut
These fermented foods are safe, as they are stored using the technologies of salting, drying and seasoning.
5. Chips
Although they can become milder over time, chips belong to products with a high degree of processing and are saturated with salt. It is therefore safe to eat them after the expiration date.
6. Biscuits
Like potato chips, biscuits also belong to products with a high degree of processing. If they get soft, put them in the oven, and it will make them crispy again.
7. Pasta
Dry foods, such as noodles, can be stored for a long time when they are in a sealed container.
8. Bread
Store it in the refrigerator and eat it for an indefinite period of time. Just make sure that bread does not have traces of mold.
9. Canned foods
Putting canned food in a cool and dark place can significantly increase their shelf life.
10. Lettuce in packages
It is safe to eat this vegetable until it is affected by mold. Simply rinse lettuce in cold water. Iceberg lettuce can be stored in a sealed plastic bag in the refrigerator for a long period of time.
11. Chocolate
Chocolate can be stored for a sufficiently long period of time. Sometimes it is covered with a white coating when exposed to air. Do not worry – this is due to the fact that fat melts and is settled on its surface.
