British men suddenly got very concerned with the appearance of their… chest. Over the past five years, the number of men seeking breast reduction surgery has increased by 1000%.
After decades of being ashamed of their oversized chest, men and teens are crowding in plastic surgery parlors, pleading to solve their problem.
According to the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, in 2003 only 22 men asked surgeons for breast reduction, while in 2008, the figure soared to 323. So if earlier one surgery was carried out every two weeks, now they are being performed almost every day, with even teenagers resorting to it. A majority of patients, however, are middle aged men who were ashamed of their body all their life.
The data were reported at the conference of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons in Cardiff.
