Coming Home (from Icelandic: “Aftur heim”) is a superb hit from Iceland to be performed at the Eurovision 2011 Song Contest by the band called Sigurjón’s Friends. It comprises Vignir Snær Vigfússon, Matthías Matthíasson, Benedikt Brynleifsson, Pálmi Sigurhjartarson, Hreimur Örn, and Heimisson Gunnar Ólason.
On February 12, 2011, the band won the national selection in Iceland. The original artist was going to be Sigurjón Brink, but on January 17, 2011 before the 3rd semi-final, he passed away unexpectedly. His family made up their minds that they want the single to remain in the contest, and so it was decided that Sigurjón’s friends should perform the single. The band made its way into the final, and we will see them competing for Iceland at the Eurovision 2011 Song Contest in May.
