This bag has not set a new record as the most expensive bag. But it became the second in the history of Heritage Auction. The most expensive handbag was auctioned in 2011.
In 2011, the most expensive handbag was sold at a price of 203,150 dollars, and it was a 30-cm Birkin with diamonds, sold at an auction in Dallas.
Birkin brushed alligator handbag (Himlayan Nilo), decorated with 18-carat gold and 242 diamonds weighing 9.84 carats, was sold in Beverly Hills a week ago. The buyer of the bag that costs 185,000 dollars preferred to remain anonymous, as well as the seller, though according to WWD, the selling lady was present at the auction.
Both of these bags are included in the collection of 480 bags, which are defined as the most iconic and luxurious bags in the history (Luxury Accessories Signature Auction series). This series also includes the handbags designed by Hermès, Chanel, Louis Vuitton and other brands.
