The season of haute couture collections was marked not by one but by three high-profile debuts at once. Raf Simons presented his first collection for the House of Dior. Hedi Slimane organized a private presentation of Yves Saint Laurent Spring 2013 pre-collection. And the Domenico Dolce & Stefano Gabbana design duo showed their first experience of working on a haute couture collection.
As part of the private show in Sicily, in the former convent, which was accessible by invitation only, Italian designers showed 73 models from the new haute couture collection. The models became an embodiment of Dolce & Gabbana aesthetics and the concept of high fashion as a separate, independent phenomenon. Gentle Sicilian lace, seductive corsets and thin, nearly transparent fabrics, many thought-out decorative items, hand-applied floral patterns, and, most importantly, – only handmade, which made the collection especially beautiful.
Unfortunately, there are no high-quality photos of the first Dolce & Gabbana haute couture collection yet – in fact, the show was held in secrecy, and its guests were forbidden not only to take pictures, but also to share experiences on Twitter.
