The University of Missouri has conducted a study, which revealed the following: protein-rich breakfast will help the people, who are losing weight, to keep fit.
The Breakfast Study
An experiment was conducted with 20 obese women, 18 to 20 years old, who were divided into groups. The first group did not eat breakfast, the second group consumed protein foods (eggs and meat provided them with 35 grams of protein), and the third group ate the usual breakfast, like quick cooking cereals. In general, the breakfast contained 350 calories. The volunteers also had to answer questions and undergo blood tests.
Eating Proteins Keeps Sated Longer
The areas of the brain that control food motivation and the process of food consumption, associated with the reward system, were scanned with the help of MRI before eating. As a result, the protein-rich products enabled the volunteers to feel saturation, and the brain activity decreased, when reinforced by the desire to eat harmful products. As a result of the decline in appetite, people ate less food.
