Russian tennis champion Maria Sharapova is going around these days all smiles sporting an engagement ring from her Los Angeles Lakers boyfriend.
Sharapova, 23, and L.A. Lakers guard Sasha Vujačić, 26, have a dating history of almost a year – they were first spotted together attending a U2 concert last November. The proposal took place last Tuesday in Vujačić’s home in Manhattan Beach, Calif.
The engagement ring adorning Sharapova’s finger is worth noticing, is the opinion of jewelry expert Michael O’Connor. He gave UsMagazine a detailed description of the love pledge: a stone that looks like a cushion-cut 8-carat diamond is set on a split-shank band made of thick platinum.
Such a bling, assessed by O’Connor as costing approximately $250,000, is sure to make her smile; “this ring makes a statement,” says the expert.
It was maybe coming on in August when the basketball player shared the joy of the relationship with the Russian champion: they help each other make headway, he said, for there’s a deep understanding of what each of them have to do to excel at their sports and how to achieve it.
No date has been appointed for the wedding yet.
