We all sort of realize that celebrities didn’t start out as famous TV personalities or models, some of them arose from quite humble beginnings. There were times when their lifestyle hardly differed much from ours, and maybe some of them had the same jobs that we are holding now. Doesn’t it make them a little bit cuter when we visualize them in other, more common, jobs?
1. Jennifer Aniston
A true A-rate star and the face of many a celeb magazine, Aniston changed a lot of jobs before she arrived where she is now. She used to be a telemarketer, a bike messenger and, like Rachel (Friends), she was a waitress for a time.
2. Madonna
The pop icon’s early job was at a Dunkin’ Donuts, and the legend runs she lost the position after she got a customer all smeared in jelly from jelly donuts. The story is quite believable, isn’t it?
3. John Bon Jovi
The rock star climbed onto the stage after he occupied an inconspicuous position of a janitor. That’s some way to go, surely! Was he as famous among janitors?
4. George Clooney
Clooney could have made it as a sportsman – if the Cincinnati Reds hadn’t turned him down. Well, he must be a better actor than a baseballer!
5. Cindy Crawford
Supermodel Crawford’s first workouts took place at an Illinois fair where she was engaged in shucking corn. Wonder how many people spotted a future celebrity back then?
6. James Franco
An Academy Award-nominated movie star, James Franco had been with McDonald’s before he was with Hollywood. A grill cook is a nice job, should he ever wish to return, he will have customers thronging in.
7. Ashton Kutcher
Ashton traded his present acting job for a biomedical engineering school. Think of him doing problems on biometrical engineering as a change from shooting, do you think he still remembers that time?
8. Kanye West
Kanye West held a job at a Gap retail store and had a brush with fashion before he hit it off with Louis Vuitton. Now the recording artist has walked away a bit far from his starting point, but he may still arrange to design a line for his old brand…
9. Gwen Stefani
When three Dairy Queen workers decided to give up their jobs and set up a band, they hadn’t expected to become celebrities, but No Doubt hit the charts. Gwen Stefani and her brother Eric are now known to all music lovers, besides, Gwen has her L.A.M.B. empire to her credit!
10. Walt Disney
The world-famous Disney empire was set up by a former newspaper cartoonist, which is in a way predictable – but not the fact that he was dismissed for having too little imagination and few ideas. He owes much to his former employers for directing him off onto the right path!
11. Oprah Winfrey
Winfrey had actually been proclaimed “unfit for television” for receiving mixed responses from viewers at her first evening news job. She was eventually dismissed and decided to have a try at daytime television.
12. Jennifer Lopez
JLo is known as an actress, singer, dancer, and clothes and perfume designer. Her another, but less well known, talent is law, as stated by her former employment in a law office.
13. Ryan Seacrest
Seacrest used to make use of his fine voice and there was a time he was an intern on the radio. When one of the DJ hosts failed to turn up due to an illness, he went on air instead- and didn’t stop until he starred in American Idol.
Don’t you think it’s an added asset when our luminaries rise from such unpretentious beginnings and climb up all the way relying on themselves only? There is no shortage of such stories, which also gives one food for thoughts.
