Manufacturers of expensive sports drinks rely on “unique formulas” to promise miracle recovery after intensive workouts. But what can really help athletes more effectively than manufactured drinks is just a glass of fat-free milk, researchers from Loughborough University claim.
The study involved young women who did strength training exercises. They drank just water two hours before workout. After they finished exercising, one group was given fat-free milk and the other group drank a sugar-based drink.
It turned out milk drinkers had better workout results, losing extra weight and gaining muscles.
Doctors say that such effect from drinking milk can be explained by the fact milk contains quality protein, vitamin D and calcium. Based on this scientific evidence, researchers drew a conclusion that regular strength training and milk consumption can help us stay healthy and enhance our bodies.
