Long Hours at the Computer is a Fatal Habit

A new study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine warns that people who necessarily or voluntarily spend long hours in front of a computer place their lives at a great risk that may even result in death.

Sitting in front of PC

Only too often sitting at the computer is conducive to gaining excessive weight which makes these individuals susceptible to heart attacks that may push them to the threshold of death.
Even if you have no problems with your weight, constant muscular inactivity causes harmful changes in the body. “After four hours of sitting, the body starts to send harmful signals,” lead researcher Elin Ekblom-Bak writes, reminding that four hours is the period when genes regulating the glucose- and fat-related processes in the body stop functioning.

The study goes on to say that regular exercising is not enough to counterbalance the harmful processes that set in after long hours of inactivity at a computer or just at a desk. The best way, scientists advise, is to move about after a few sedentary hours or doing some exercises, since alternating exercise and sitting is the best way to invigorate your body.
