Over the next two years, the scientists intend to test the blood created in laboratory from human stem cells. If the experiment is successful, the artificial blood will be widely used in transfusions.
The experts from the University of Bristol and the University of Edinburgh are going to create universal blood – 0-group with a negative Rh. It fits 98% of the people.
Artificial blood, in contrast to donor blood, will always be free of infection. The industrial production of blood will help save thousands of lives. The scientists estimate that this will happen in the next decade.
