Sonia Rykiel Spring-Summer 2012 collection appeals to cheerful young women, who are not afraid of smiling and making other people smile.
Being the queen of knitwear, Sonia Rykiel is increasingly using conventional fabrics (linen, viscose, and light cotton). Prankish dresses with polka dots, overalls and shorts are perfectly complemented by classic dresses; cocktail and evening gowns with interweaving fabrics, combined models, and volume trimming reflect the imagination of the new designer of the brand.
Slacks, hats, wide jackets, and elastic waist pants are all reminiscent of the 1920-s, which are going to become a trend, just as the 1970-s. And they have also been reflected in the color-blocking collection, in men’s suits (very feminine ones, that are created by Sonia Rykiel), prints and contrasting details.
Evening gowns deserve a special word. Of course, similar gowns have already been offered by other designers, but the long wrap-around sleeved black dress, fastened with the belt, is one of the sexiest attires for women, in our opinion.
The first collection of April Crichton as the leading designer of the brand pleases with the perceptible lightness and facetiousness, which is needed in real fashion. The models from the lookbook have felt this atmosphere and contributed to it. Bravo is all one can say!
