Chanel’s center of main activity in May is located in the South of France where its creative genius Karl Lagerfeld has just finished shooting a short film entitled The Tale of a Fairy. It is a dramatic story meant to provide a set-off for Chanel’s cruise collection.
The Tale of a Fairy was shown at an event taking place at the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc at the Cap d’Antibes on Monday and will appear in full on Chanel’s site on Tuesday. As was gleaned from the teaser, the French fashion house roped in its “friends of the House” for the video among which there are American model Kristen McMenamy, fashion consultant Lady Amanda Harlech, French actress Anna Mouglalis, as well as models Baptiste Giabiconi, Bianca Balti and Freja Beha Erichsen. The plot revolves around an opulent but dysfunctional family that makes a run of plush casinos. Thrilling bedroom scenes are to be expected.
Karl Lagerfeld described his movie as a story of a gross misuse of wealth that involves violence but “ends with feeling.”
Chanel’s May cruise collection is another proof of the growing popularity of resort shows, the number of which has radically increased last year with many famous brands joining in.
Besides the new collection from Chanel Dior and other high-profile fashion houses are getting theirs ready for the season; also presented will be less expensive collections from 3.1 Phillip Lim and others.
