A pinto stallion born last week at the Tiz A Miniature Horse Farm in Barnstead, New Hampshire, may well turn out to be the world’s smallest foal.
The possible record-breaker weighed 2.7kg at birth and stands 35cm tall. He was born so small that the farm staff took extra care of him, wrapping him in a dog blanket and keeping close watch on him for the first four hours of his life. But the little foal was fine and no weakling and he runs about just as lively as if he were of ordinary size.
Breeder Judy Smith assures that it is not a form of dwarfism but a trick of nature, which puts him in a position apart from other miniature horses.
The tiny creature was called Einstein.
