I've found ginger capsules to work surprisingly well for short trips, like 25 miles off the coast. I have a very low tolerance for motion on planes or boats on the open sea. If I take ginger capsules 3 days prior to my trip and keep ginger candy on hand I do ok for about an hour on moderately choppy seas. Strong ginger tea is another favorite in addition to the capsules. They worked as good as Bonine and I had non of the side effects the meds cause. Good luck everyone!
