Liposuction & Health

Experts from the School of Medicine at the University of Washington conducted a study showing that liposuction does not promote a patient’s health. After the removal of fat cells, insulin sensitivity does not improve. There are no other characteristic signs of health improvement, which are observed after conventional methods of losing excess weight.

Liposuction as Obesity Treatment?

Liposuction is very often considered a rapid method for obesity treatment. This procedure involves removal of fat cells. In a single treatment, it is possible to remove up to 5 liters of fat from the patient’s body. Traditional weight loss (reduction in caloric intake, physical activity) is associated with better health, including the normalization of blood pressure and increased sensitivity to insulin.

Why Does Liposuction Have No Effect on Your Health?

American researchers observed a group of 15 women suffering from obesity. 7 of them had type 2 diabetes. Scientists have found no significant differences or risk factors reduction in the patients before and after the liposuction. Perhaps this is because the procedure does not imply treatment of fat cells in the main body tissues, and their obesity is a major health threat.

How to Become Healthier?

However, the traditional diet helps to reduce fat cells throughout the body, which improves health. The researchers also found that liposuction is a safe procedure, and at one time up to 20 liters of fat can be safely “pumped out” from the patient’s body.
